Best time to post on LinkedIn on Monday

Monday works on LinkedIn, but earlier rather than later. The audience arrives in catch-up mode before the week's meetings take over, and anything posted has the whole working week ahead of it.

Our LinkedIn Monday posting time figures are not published yet

We only publish posting times we measured ourselves, from posts actually published through Bolta. That aggregate is still being compiled, so this page shows the reasoning without the numbers rather than recycling someone else’s round figures. It is excluded from search results until the data lands.

In the meantime, Bolta’s Optimal Time already computes the answer for your own account rather than a benchmark average.

What makes Monday different on LinkedIn

Monday is the only day where the audience arrives with a backlog. People open LinkedIn while triaging what happened since they left, which means attention is real but shallow and easily interrupted — and it drains as the day's meetings and week-kickoff rituals take hold. The useful part of Monday is front-loaded in a way that midweek days are not.

It is also the day with the longest runway. A Monday post has the full working week in front of it, so it has more chances to be resurfaced to people who missed it before the audience's week resets. That is a structural advantage no other day has, and it partly offsets the distracted attention.

The competing supply is distinctive too. Monday is when weekly newsletters, roundups and week-ahead posts all land at once, so you are contending with a lot of scheduled, planning-shaped content. That cuts both ways: it crowds the feed, but it also means Monday readers are in a planning frame of mind and receptive to content that helps them think about the week.

Monday's advantage is runway, not attention

If you only get one post out this week, Monday is a defensible choice — not because Monday attention is the best of the week, but because the post gets the most working days to accumulate conversation and be re-shown before the audience's week ends.

Treat that as a reason to post your most durable idea on Monday rather than your most disposable one. Content that people want to reference or reply to over several days compounds on the runway; a throwaway observation does not, and would be better spent midweek when attention is deeper.

Frequently asked questions

Is Monday a bad day to post on LinkedIn?

No. The old advice to skip Monday came from treating it as a write-off day, which does not match how professionals use LinkedIn — the start of the week is when people catch up. The realistic caution is about the second half of the day, once meetings and week planning have taken over.

Why does Monday attention fade during the day?

Monday is when the week gets organised: standups, planning sessions, and the backlog that accumulated over the weekend. Discretionary scrolling gets squeezed out as commitments fill the calendar, so the pockets that exist earlier in the day close up rather than reopening later.

What kind of content suits Monday on LinkedIn?

Anything that fits a planning mindset: a framing of a problem, a short lesson, a resource someone can act on this week. Monday is a poor day for content that needs sustained reading, because the audience is deliberately skimming.

Is Monday good for hiring and job-related posts?

It is one of the better days for them. Job searching and hiring activity concentrate at the start of the working week, when people are reassessing their situation and recruiters are working through their pipeline, so role posts and hiring updates meet a more intentional audience than they do late in the week.

Stop looking up posting times

A benchmark table is an average of other people's audiences. Bolta's Optimal Time reads your own LinkedIn history and schedules each post into the window that actually works for your account — then keeps adjusting as the audience shifts.

Methodology

These pages report posting times measured from posts published through Bolta — our own data, not a third-party benchmark. The aggregate is still being compiled, so no sample size, date range or figures are published yet and this page is excluded from search results.

When it publishes, this block will state the exact post count, the number of accounts, and the date range behind every number on the page.
