What a good Instagram comment does
Instagram shows the first line or two of a comment and hides the rest behind "more", so the opening words carry the whole thing. A comment's job is to get a reply from the account owner, because that reply is what pulls other readers back into the thread and puts your handle in front of them a second time.
The comments that get answered are specific to the post. Referencing the actual thing in the image or the exact sentence in the caption proves you watched or read it, and creators answer those first.
