Best time to post on Facebook on Friday
Friday's Facebook audience is present but distracted, and it fades as the day goes on. Earlier in the day is safer, and lighter, weekend-shaped content fits the mood better than anything that asks for effort.
Our Facebook Friday posting time figures are not published yet
We only publish posting times we measured ourselves, from posts actually published through Bolta. That aggregate is still being compiled, so this page shows the reasoning without the numbers rather than recycling someone else’s round figures. It is excluded from search results until the data lands.
In the meantime, Bolta’s Optimal Time already computes the answer for your own account rather than a benchmark average.

What makes Friday different on Facebook
Friday is the day Facebook's audience is physically available but mentally elsewhere. People are closing out a week and looking ahead to a weekend, which suppresses the kind of engagement Facebook rewards most: considered comments, and shares into a personal network. Passive scrolling holds up; reaction rate is what softens.
It also decays within the day in a way other weekdays do not. Monday through Thursday, the evening window is reliable. On Friday the evening belongs to being out, being with family, or being off a phone, so the usable part of the day is weighted earlier.
The offsetting factor is competition. A lot of Pages taper their scheduling towards the end of the week, so there is more room in the feed on Friday than midweek. For light, shareable, non-demanding content that trade can come out in your favour — a Friday post also carries into the weekend, though with less runway than a Thursday one.

Frequently asked questions
Is Friday a good day to post on Facebook?
It is middling. Your audience is available but less inclined to comment or share, which is exactly the behaviour Facebook's ranking depends on. Competing Page volume is lower, though, so light and easily shareable content can do well.
Why does Friday get worse as the day goes on?
Because the evening stops being a browsing window. On other weekdays the post-dinner stretch is reliably strong; on Friday people are out, with family, or away from their phones, so the usable part of Friday sits earlier in the day.
Should I promote a weekend event on Friday?
As a reminder, yes. As the main announcement, no — publish that on Thursday so Facebook has time to build distribution for it, and use Friday for the short nudge to people already aware.
What kind of Facebook post works on Friday?
Anything low-effort to engage with: a photo, something light, something people can react to without composing a thought. Save anything that needs a considered reply for midweek, when the audience has the attention to give one.
Stop looking up posting times
A benchmark table is an average of other people's audiences. Bolta's Optimal Time reads your own Facebook history and schedules each post into the window that actually works for your account — then keeps adjusting as the audience shifts.
Methodology
These pages report posting times measured from posts published through Bolta — our own data, not a third-party benchmark. The aggregate is still being compiled, so no sample size, date range or figures are published yet and this page is excluded from search results.
When it publishes, this block will state the exact post count, the number of accounts, and the date range behind every number on the page.
