A relationship or family conflict where both sides have a point. The reader wants to vote, so give them a real dilemma.
Title formula

Beats, in order
One-line setup: who you are, who they are, how long you've known them.
The arrangement everyone agreed to (this is what gets broken later).
The first small violation. Keep it small; escalation is the story.
The breaking point, told in one concrete scene with dialogue.
Your reaction — the thing you're asking to be judged on.
The fallout: who is on whose side now.
Close with the question, restated in one line.

AITA for changing the Wi‑Fi password after my roommate's boyfriend moved in without asking?
I (27F) have lived with my roommate Dana (26F) for two years. Her boyfriend started 'staying over' in March. By May he had a key, a drawer, and a gaming PC in our living room.
I said nothing for three months. Then the electricity bill doubled and he asked me, in my own kitchen, to keep it down while he was on a call.
So I changed the Wi‑Fi password and told Dana he could have it when he started paying a third of the bills. She says I humiliated him. Her mom has texted me twice. AITA?
Length: 300–600 words. Longer posts lose votes; the comments carry the rest.

nosleep first-person horror
Narrated story videos and long-form horror. The subreddit rule is that everything is 'true', so the narrator never winks at the reader.
Title formula
[A mundane thing] has started [doing something it should not]. / I [job] and I need to tell someone about [the thing].
Beats, in order
Ordinary opening. A job, a house, a routine. No horror in the first paragraph.
The first wrong detail, noticed and dismissed.
A rule the narrator learns (from a note, a coworker, a previous tenant). Rules are the engine of nosleep.
The narrator breaks or almost breaks the rule.
Escalation in three steps, each one closer to the narrator.
The reveal — partial. Never explain everything.
End in the present tense, with the threat unresolved and a reason the narrator is writing this now.
Worked example
I work night security at a storage facility. Unit 114 has been renting itself since 2019.
The job is simple: two rounds a night, log anything unusual, don't open units. The previous guard left a laminated card taped inside the desk drawer. Four rules. The fourth one is 'If 114 is unlocked, it is not unlocked for you.'
Tonight, on the second round, the padlock on 114 was hanging open. I logged it. I did not go in. I'm writing this at the desk because I can hear the door at the end of the corridor, the one I locked an hour ago, and it is not the wind.
Length: 1,200–2,500 words for the post; 90–150 words per minute if it is going to be narrated.

TIFU confession
Comedy with a single escalating mistake. Works as a 60-second video because the whole thing is one bad decision and its consequences.
Title formula
TIFU by [the small decision] and [the disproportionate result]
Beats, in order
Start with 'This happened [today/last week]' — the sub expects it.
The reasonable-sounding decision.
The moment you realised it was a mistake (be specific about the sensation).
Two escalations. Each one is you trying to fix it and making it worse.
The public moment: someone else finds out.
TL;DR at the bottom, one sentence, funnier than the title.
Worked example
TIFU by trusting my smart speaker with the grocery list
This happened yesterday. I set up voice ordering so I could add things to the cart while cooking. What I did not know is that my four-year-old had learned the wake word.
Forty-one bananas. Three inflatable pools. A single, enormous bag of dog food. We do not have a dog. The delivery driver asked if we were 'okay'.
TL;DR: taught my speaker to shop, taught my kid to talk to the speaker, now own a pool.
Length: 250–500 words. The TL;DR is mandatory in the subreddit rules.

Relationship advice request
You want the comment section to do the storytelling. The post ends on a genuine question, not a conclusion.
Title formula
My [partner] ([age][sex]) [did the thing]. I ([age][sex]) don't know if I'm overreacting.
Beats, in order
Ages and sexes in parentheses — the sub requires it and readers use it to judge.
How long you've been together and one thing that is good about the relationship (this keeps the post credible).
The pattern, with two dated examples.

Worked example
My husband (34M) keeps 'forgetting' to tell me (31F) when his mother is coming to stay. Third time this year.
We've been married six years and he is, in most things, the most considerate person I know. Which is why this is confusing.
In February his mother arrived for nine days. He'd known for a month. In June, a week. Yesterday I came home to her suitcase in the hall. He said he 'thought he'd mentioned it'. I have asked, calmly, twice, for a heads-up. Is this something people fix, or is this who he is?
Length: 400–700 words. Longer than that and top comments will summarise it for you.

Short, satisfying, and clean. The revenge must be proportionate and legal or the subreddit removes it.
Title formula
[Someone] kept [annoying thing], so I [proportionate, clever response]
Beats, in order
The offender, and the small thing they do repeatedly.
One attempt to solve it like an adult (this is what makes the revenge fair).
The idea. Tell the reader the plan before it happens.
The execution, in real time.
Their reaction, in one line.
The aftermath: has the behaviour stopped?
Worked example
Neighbour parked across my driveway every Sunday, so I started hosting Sunday brunch for his in-laws
Every Sunday, 9 a.m., his car across the end of my drive so his own driveway was free for guests. I asked twice. He said it was 'only for an hour'.
His in-laws turned out to be lovely people who also could not park anywhere. So I invited them to park in my drive and have coffee while they waited. They now come every week. He has not blocked my driveway since April.
Length: 200–400 words. If it needs more than that, it is r/ProRevenge.

Emotional, unresolved, first person. No question at the end; the reader is a witness, not a judge.
Title formula

Beats, in order
The secret, stated plainly in the first two sentences.

The one person who almost found out.
Why you're writing it now (a trigger: an anniversary, a diagnosis, a move).
What you're afraid would happen if you said it out loud.
End on an image, not a lesson.

I hate it. I have hated every mile since I was nineteen. He is seventy-one now and still lays my shoes out by the door when I visit, the way he did when I was a kid.
I signed us up for another half marathon last week. I'll keep signing us up. Some things are not about the thing.
Length: 300–800 words. Paragraph breaks every two or three sentences; it's read on phones.

Workplace stories where following a bad instruction to the letter is the punchline.
Title formula
[Authority figure] insisted I [do exactly X]. So I did exactly X.
Beats, in order
The rule or instruction, quoted as close to verbatim as you can.
Why the rule made no sense (briefly; the reader should already be on your side).
Your polite attempt to explain. Their refusal.
'So I did exactly what they asked.' Then the consequences, in order.
The moment they realise.
The policy change, if any.
Worked example
Manager said every email must be answered within 15 minutes, no exceptions. He gets a lot of emails now.
New metric: 15-minute response time on every inbound email, tracked on a dashboard. I explained that half my inbox is automated alerts that need no reply. 'No exceptions.'
So every alert got a reply. To the sender. Which was our monitoring system. Which forwards replies to the on-call manager. He received 340 emails from me in one shift, each one acknowledging that a backup had completed. The metric was retired on Thursday.
Length: 400–900 words. Keep the setup under a third of the total.

AskReddit thread (question + seeded answers)
Thread-style story videos where the question is the hook and each 'top comment' is a mini story.
Title formula
[Group of people], what's the [superlative] [thing] you've [experienced]?
Beats, in order
The question, phrased so a specific group feels invited to answer.
Three to five 'top comments', 2–4 sentences each, in distinct voices.
One comment that subverts the others (funny after three sad ones, or the reverse).
A short reply chain under one comment — the reader stays for the follow-up.
End on the comment with the strongest final line.
Worked example
Night-shift workers of Reddit, what's the strangest thing a customer has said to you at 3 a.m.?
u/late_register: 'Do you sell time?' I said no. He nodded like that was the answer he expected and bought a lighter.
u/pumps_and_coffee: A man in a full suit asked me to check whether he was still visible. I said yes. He said 'good' and left without buying anything.
u/graveyard_rn: Not a customer, a patient. 'You're not the nurse from earlier.' I was the only nurse on that floor. I had been the only nurse for six hours.
Length: Question under 20 words. Each comment under 60. The video version is one comment per scene.
Using a template for a Reddit story video
Write or generate the post to one of the structures above. Cut it to the narrated length in the template's note.
Fill the blank post frame with the final title, a plausible username, and the vote and comment counts. Screenshot it for the opening card.
Split the story at the cliffhanger beats (the breaking point, the reveal) if it is a multi-part series.
