# How to Edit or Delete a Threads Post — The Edit Window and What Deleting Breaks

## How to edit or delete a Threads post

1. Open the post menu: Tap the three-dot menu in the top-right corner of the post, either in the feed or on your own profile.
2. Choose Edit while the window is open: a Threads post can be edited for 15 minutes after publishing, so Edit only appears on very recent posts. If it is missing, the window has closed.

## The edit window

## A habit that beats the edit button

Every platform that has shipped an edit feature has shipped a short window, because a long one turns a public record into something rewritable. Assume you cannot edit, and the workflow changes usefully: draft somewhere other than the composer, read it once cold, then post.
