Posting on X on Monday: why the catch-up scroll and a full week of runway make it different from the rest of the week.

## Summary

Monday works on X because the audience arrives with a backlog to clear from the weekend, and because anything that starts a conversation has the rest of the working week to keep running.

## Who this is for

- Teams and creators publishing on X (Twitter)

## Limitations and boundaries

- Any cross-account posting-time aggregate describes a population, not your audience; two accounts on the same platform can have opposite answers.
- Timing changes how many people are given the chance to see a post. It does not change whether the post is worth seeing.
- Where a platform distributes mostly through an interest graph rather than your followers, posting time is a weak lever compared with format and hook.
- Figures on these pages are only ever the ones we measured from posts published through Bolta. Until that aggregate is published, no figures are shown and the pages are excluded from search results.

## Monday posting windows on X (Twitter)

Windows on Monday: 9am–11am audience local time (strong); 4pm–6pm audience local time (moderate). Strongest single moment: 10am. Morning news and end-of-day reset.

## How Monday compares to the rest of the week on X (Twitter)

Monday is the one weekday where a meaningful share of the audience opens X to find out what they missed rather than to see what is happening now. That catch-up scroll is a slightly longer, slightly more tolerant session than the mid-week check-in, and it favours posts that summarise, frame or set an agenda over posts that react to something. It is also the day with the most runway. A Monday post that starts a real conversation can keep resurfacing through replies for the rest of the working week, and you still have four more weekdays to follow up on it. The same post on Thursday has almost nowhere to go. The offsetting pressure is competition: Monday is when brands, newsletters and everyone who batched their content over the weekend all publish at once. The audience is large but the feed is crowded, and attention is being spent on other people's inboxes and to-do lists as much as on the timeline.

## Methodology

X (Twitter) Monday figures are aggregated from 11,258 posts published through Bolta across 104 accounts, 2026-04-01 to 2026-07-27. Times are expressed in audience-local. Audience-local starting windows from the prior Bolta recommendation baseline. These are a defensible starting point, not account-specific optimization; use Bolta's Optimal Time once your own audience history is available. Last updated 2026-07-28. ## Is Monday a good day to post on X?

For most accounts, yes — the working audience is back and receptive. The caveat is that Monday is one of the most crowded days on the platform, so a merely adequate post competes with a lot of other merely adequate posts. It rewards your strongest material rather than filler.

## Should I post a thread on Monday?

Monday is a reasonable day for a thread because the catch-up session tolerates longer reading and because you have the rest of the week to reference and extend it. Just be aware that people are also triaging their week, so a thread that demands sustained attention competes with a genuinely busy morning.

## Is Monday better than mid-week on X?

Not usually better, but rarely worse in a way that matters. Monday's advantage is runway and the catch-up scroll; mid-week's advantage is a fully settled audience. If you can only post well once, Monday's extra week of follow-up potential is a legitimate reason to pick it.

## Why do some accounts avoid posting on Monday?

Because attention on Monday is split. People are clearing a backlog across every channel, not just X, and promotional or ask-heavy posts land badly against that. Accounts that sell on X often shift their asks to mid-week for exactly this reason.
