Posting on LinkedIn on a Friday: a working audience that is winding down, and a distribution window that runs into the weekend.

## Summary

Friday still reaches a working audience, but it is the day their attention shifts from taking things on to closing them out — and anything a post has not achieved by the end of the day lands into the weekend.

## Who this is for

- Teams and creators publishing on LinkedIn

## Limitations and boundaries

- Any cross-account posting-time aggregate describes a population, not your audience; two accounts on the same platform can have opposite answers.
- Timing changes how many people are given the chance to see a post. It does not change whether the post is worth seeing.
- Where a platform distributes mostly through an interest graph rather than your followers, posting time is a weak lever compared with format and hook.
- Figures on these pages are only ever the ones we measured from posts published through Bolta. Until that aggregate is published, no figures are shown and the pages are excluded from search results.

## Friday posting windows on LinkedIn

Windows on Friday: 9am–11am audience local time (strong). Strongest single moment: 10am. Morning is safest.

## How Friday compares to the rest of the week on LinkedIn

Friday is the only working day whose second half genuinely behaves differently from its first. The audience is at work, but the mode shifts from starting things to finishing them — less appetite for a long read, less inclination to open a discussion they would have to carry into next week. It is the day where LinkedIn's longer post life turns into a liability. A Friday post's remaining runway straddles the weekend, when the audience is not on the platform to lift it with comments. Instead of a second day of momentum, the post pauses, and it comes back into a Monday feed that is already busy with fresh material. The compensating factor is a thinner field: less planned content is scheduled for Friday, so there is more room for a post that does find its audience. That is a real trade rather than a reason to prefer the day — a bigger share of a smaller, more distracted pool.

## Methodology

LinkedIn Friday figures are aggregated from 11,258 posts published through Bolta across 104 accounts, 2026-04-01 to 2026-07-27. Times are expressed in audience-local. Audience-local starting windows from the prior Bolta recommendation baseline. These are a defensible starting point, not account-specific optimization; use Bolta's Optimal Time once your own audience history is available. Last updated 2026-07-28. ## Is Friday a bad day to post on LinkedIn?

It is the weakest working day rather than a bad one. The audience is still there, particularly earlier in the day, and the feed is less crowded. What you give up is the follow-through: the post's later life happens while nobody is looking.

## Why does Friday drop off during the day?

Because attention converges on finishing the week — closing tasks, last calls, handovers — and then on leaving. Unlike a leisure platform, LinkedIn gets no evening recovery, so once the working day winds down there is nothing after it.

## What kind of post suits Friday?

Something self-contained that pays off immediately: a short reflection, a wrap-up, a light or human post. Save anything that needs sustained attention or an ongoing discussion for a day with working days in front of it.

## Should I post on Friday if I already posted midweek?

Yes, if you have something worth saying — a thinner feed makes an extra post cheap to try, and consistency is worth more than protecting a perfect average. Just do not put your most important post of the week here.
