Best time to post on Facebook on Friday — why attention drifts through the day and what still works on it.

## Summary

Friday's Facebook audience is present but distracted, and it fades as the day goes on. Earlier in the day is safer, and lighter, weekend-shaped content fits the mood better than anything that asks for effort.

## Who this is for

- Teams and creators publishing on Facebook

## Limitations and boundaries

- Any cross-account posting-time aggregate describes a population, not your audience; two accounts on the same platform can have opposite answers.
- Timing changes how many people are given the chance to see a post. It does not change whether the post is worth seeing.
- Where a platform distributes mostly through an interest graph rather than your followers, posting time is a weak lever compared with format and hook.
- Figures on these pages are only ever the ones we measured from posts published through Bolta. Until that aggregate is published, no figures are shown and the pages are excluded from search results.

## Friday posting windows on Facebook

Windows on Friday: 10am–12pm audience local time (strong). Strongest single moment: 11am. Before weekend plans.

## How Friday compares to the rest of the week on Facebook

Friday is the day Facebook's audience is physically available but mentally elsewhere. People are closing out a week and looking ahead to a weekend, which suppresses the kind of engagement Facebook rewards most: considered comments, and shares into a personal network. Passive scrolling holds up; reaction rate is what softens. It also decays within the day in a way other weekdays do not. Monday through Thursday, the evening window is reliable. On Friday the evening belongs to being out, being with family, or being off a phone, so the usable part of the day is weighted earlier. The offsetting factor is competition. A lot of Pages taper their scheduling towards the end of the week, so there is more room in the feed on Friday than midweek. For light, shareable, non-demanding content that trade can come out in your favour — a Friday post also carries into the weekend, though with less runway than a Thursday one.

## Methodology

Facebook Friday figures are aggregated from 11,258 posts published through Bolta across 104 accounts, 2026-04-01 to 2026-07-27. Times are expressed in audience-local. Audience-local starting windows from the prior Bolta recommendation baseline. These are a defensible starting point, not account-specific optimization; use Bolta's Optimal Time once your own audience history is available. Last updated 2026-07-28. ## Is Friday a good day to post on Facebook?

It is middling. Your audience is available but less inclined to comment or share, which is exactly the behaviour Facebook's ranking depends on. Competing Page volume is lower, though, so light and easily shareable content can do well.

## Why does Friday get worse as the day goes on?

Because the evening stops being a browsing window. On other weekdays the post-dinner stretch is reliably strong; on Friday people are out, with family, or away from their phones, so the usable part of Friday sits earlier in the day.

## Should I promote a weekend event on Friday?

As a reminder, yes. As the main announcement, no — publish that on Thursday so Facebook has time to build distribution for it, and use Friday for the short nudge to people already aware.

## What kind of Facebook post works on Friday?

Anything low-effort to engage with: a photo, something light, something people can react to without composing a thought. Save anything that needs a considered reply for midweek, when the audience has the attention to give one.
